The afrocarnivora are a group of taxonomic orders belonging to the mammalian superorder Afrotheria. They are descendants of Late Cretaceous Tenrecs. More familiar Afrotheres include Elephants, Hyraxes, Manatees, and Aardvarks. They fall in three orders, based on their teeth: The short-lived Trismila, the Dismila, and the Monosmila.
