BR2 (BR Zwei) is the second television channel operated by the Baltish Broadcasting Corporation (BR). It covers a wide range of subject matter, but tending towards more "highbrow" programmes than the more mainstream and popular BR1. Like BR's other TV and radio channels, it is funded by the BR tax, and is therefore commercial-free.

History

BR2 began broadcasting on 30 June 1980, only three weeks before the start of the Olympic Games. Between 20 July and 3 August, BR2 broadcasts various olympics events that the main channel BR1 did not broadcast. On 4 August 1980, BR2 continued broadcasting children's programs in the afternoon and BR television archive reruns during prime time.

In 1981 BR2 was reorganized and became a youth-oriented channel, airing children's programs, American TV shows and sports. In this year, the channel broadcasts from 17:00 to 23:00.
