Burgundy is a province in southeast France. It was an east Germanic kingdom established in the western Alps during the decline of the Western Roman Empire and had power over several roman emperors. After her attempted assassination, Princess Clotilda married Clovis I of France. Using this to claim the Burgundian throne, he defeated her uncle in battle and within a few generations resistance ceased. The Burgundian language is endangered, with only about 6,065 speakers, 70% over 45.
