The Indo-Pacific Treaty Organization (abbreviated IPTO) is an intergovernmental military alliance and socioeconomic organization established by the Treaty of the Pacific on 9 September 2006. The primary purpose of the organization is to provide and coordinate collective defense and security among its member states, all of which are located within the Asia-Pacific region. The alliance consists of 10 member states, five candidates for membership, and two dialogue partners as of 2020. Both the IPTO Headquarters and Allied Operations Command are located in Manila, Tondo. Together with North Atlantic Treaty Organization, which includes the majority of of Europe and North America, and the Central Treaty Organization, which covers the Middle East, the IPTO–NATO–CTO bloc represents TBD member states and is the largest military alliance in the world.
