List of presidents of Astoria
The President of Astoria is the head of state of the Commonwealth of Astoria and the commander-in-chief of the Astorian National Defense Forces. According to the Constitution of Astoria, the president holds significant political power esepcially within the realm of national security, forming the cabinet, and appointing justices to the Supreme Court of Astoria, but much of the executive functions are carried out by the First Minister within Astoria's semi-presidential political system.
Since Astoria's independence, there have been 27 politicians who have held the office of the presidency with each president serving a three year term with each term being renewable as the constitution has not described any term limits. The president is appointed in a direct election with universal suffrage with a two round system being in place to avoid an electoral recount. Quinn Foster is the current president who has held the office since 2013.
Most presidents have been members of a political party during their tenure with founding president Wilbur Anderson being the only non-partisan president. Most presidents have been members of the conservative National Party while six have been members of the Liberal Party and five have been members of the Labor-Democratic Party. At least three officeholders were members of the Timber Party.
