The genus Monosmilus had five members and gave rise to all other Monosmilans, two of which survive. The five members are: M. minimus, M. maastricht, M. fossor, M. indus (died out), M. binutrong. M. minimus was 4 inches long, M. binutrong was a foot long, and the others were about 7 inches long. While M. indus died in the KT event, the other line survived, going from insectovorous M. minimus, to predator of small mammals M. binutrong. M. binutrong would give rise to Afroursus, a large ambush predator, and Afrofelis, a modest sized predator capable of pursing prey into the trees. Click here for: Afroursidae Afrofelidae
