Introduction Alternate history is a genre of speculative fiction of stories in which one or more historical events occur and are resolved differently than in real life. As conjecture based upon historical fact, alternative history stories propose What if? scenarios about crucial events in human history, and present outcomes very different from the historical record. One of the earliest examples of alternate history is found in Roman historian Livy's Ab Urbe Condita Libri. In which Livy contemplated an alternate world in which Alexander the Great expanded his empire westward, not eastward. A common trope in alternate history, which is an alternate history where the Roman Empire survives its fall in 476 AD. And that is the question and foundation of this timeline. What if the Roman Empire had survived up to the present day? How different would our world look? Point of Divergence Bust of Tiberius Claudius Nero While campaigning in Pannonia, general Tiberius Claudius Nero fell from his horse in 745, sustaining wounds that were now infected. His brother, Nero Claudius Drusus soon rushed to Tiberius' camp, and managed to make it to Tiberius’ bedside just days before his death. However, his grief would be put on hold as the campaigns in Germania would soon take precedence. To replace the dead Tiberius, emperor Augustus appointed a man named Lucius Domitius Ahenobarbus to the Illyrian command.
