Sweden, the Swedish Empire, or colloquially known as Kingdom of Sweden (Scandoswedish: Konungariket Sverige [koːnɵŋaˌriːkɛt ˈsværjɛ]), is a country in Northern Europe comprising of 5 States of Sweden. It borders Germany to the south and Russia to the east. At 1,278,258 km² (493,538 sq mi), Sweden is the largest country in the European Union, and the third largest in Europe. The capital city is Stockholm. Sweden has a total population of 36 million, making it the 10th most populated country in Europe. It has a low population density of 28 inhabitants per square kilometer (73/sq mi), whilst the highest urban concentration occurs in Svealand, with smaller concentrations in Östland, Östdanlandet, and Nyland.
