The Tessian Hegemony (Fillorgiar: Tessia Hemgyga), also referred to as the Tessian Empire, the Polytinarian Empire, the Benevolent Hegemony, or most commonly as the Hegemony, is a very large socialist interstellar hyperpower that at its peak during the later years of the 21st century controlled a total of 47 different star systems located within the Polytinaris Spur, a subsection of the Far 3 kpc Arm of the Milky Way Galaxy. Its capital was located on the planet Tertan, within the triple Polytinaris star system.

The Hegemony formed out of the wake of the declining Commonwealth and growing tensions between its two component star systems of Kalagors and Tinaria, both of which had developed increasingly different political alignments with the rork species of Kalagors leaning towards moderate social conservatism and economic capitalism, while Tinaria had become increasingly socialist, with some of the more radicals even going as far as communism or similar ideologies. This reached its breaking point in early February of 1998, just a few months before the 1998 Commonwealth Parliament elections, when a notable leader of the People's Fairness Party, one of the more radical left-wing parties in Tinaria, was found to have been supposedly murdered by her own brother; in retaliation the acting leader of the PFP, Tessia von Merdenia declared her secession from the Commonwealth and the foundation of a new state, just after which she was thrown into jail by rorks attempting to cover the whole incident up. This only angered the PFP even more, and conditions were ripe for a revolution to begin; by March 10 a whole fleet of ships had been assembled by their upper echelons, who heeded her statements with dignity. The following conflict, known as the Great Revolution, would pressure the government into freeing Tessia on March 27, but not before a rebel force led by some of her close confidants had gained control over the entire Tinaria system. Under her leadership the invasion fleet rapidly advanced through the Kalagors system, culminating in the bombardment of the moon Culo by rebel forces between April 20-24. The Commonwealth would announce unconditional surrender on the 24th, but insurgencies and loyalist armies would not be fully neutralized until early August.

During the second half of 1999, the Hegemony launched a military invasion of the neighboring Genenia system, which was controlled by its own state under the gesmian species of the moon Kalei. With the invention of faster-than-light warp drives in the year 2004, they began radiating all throughout the Polytinaris Spur thanks to a carefully coordinated group of conquests known as the Galavades Contingency Plan. The unexpected confirmation of the long-extinct First Hegemony during the year 2038, which had once controlled the entire Spur hundreds of thousands of years prior, added further fuel to the growth of the state. Many of these systems were already inhabited by native species and were forcefully conquered in brutal wars with heavy losses on both sides, while most were settled and developed more peacefully. The aliens who inhabited these star systems would often face poor treatment and most were assimilated into a life of slavery and servitude for massive state-owned industrial corporations that produced various amounts of consumer and military goods. The luckier aliens who had not been enslaved were also heavily discriminated against through extremely xenophobic and discriminatory policies that also rendered them as lesser beings to the ruling aerlon class. In some cases, as with the invasions of the Ironia-Ursonberg Imperium & the Higher Sovereignty of Jalian, they would also end up subjugating members of species who had originated within Polytinaris and had escaped via the use of wormholes constructed by the First Hegemony.

The Tessian Hegemony functions as a legislative one-party state, with the PFP being the sole recognized political party. It is also a dictatorship, with the head of government, the Benevolent Premier, exercising a high degree of authority and superiority over the legislature. Nearly all aspects of the economy, except for some niche industries such as the entertainment sector, are owned and operated by the state. While ownership of private businesses is not completely outlawed, the processes of forming one are warped to such an extent that founding a company is nearly impossible in most cases. Discrimination against minority groups within the aerlon race is rather minimal, with relatively high social equality for the disabled, neurodivergent, and LGBTQ+ communities in addition to women's rights. Aliens, however, do not have these freedoms and are treated as second-class citizens; even more so if they had originated outside of the Polytinaris system.

History[edit | edit source]

Background[edit | edit source]

See also: Polytinaris Commonwealth

For almost 700 years, the two main stars of the Polytinaris system, Kalagors and Tinaria, were ruled by a democratic state known as the Polytinaris Commonwealth, or commonly simplified to just the Commonwealth. The Commonwealth was a parliamentary monarchy that had been formed as the culmination of the Age of Rapprochement, which lasted during the 13-14th centuries and saw relations between the two star systems improve once again after having been rather poor for over a millennium. It was created on January 8, 1329, after high-ranking leaders from both systems met each other on the ringed habitable planet of Ragauno, the sixth planet of the Tinaria system. The treaty they signed, known as the Ragauno Accords, would eventually become the constitution of the new Commonwealth, and would lay down foundations for social & political equality between the two systems.

The Commonwealth would reach its peak around the year 1600, where its free society would foster a strongly artistic & creative culture, along with diverse populations spread throughout many planets of both systems. Its economy also thrived and would see industries diversify and evolve into many different fields of business, including the agricultural and the arts & entertainment sectors. Many large megastructures, including the massive Station-47 orbiting the gas giant Hanelia were constructed by the Commonwealth during its first three centuries of existence.

Not everyone agreed with the liberty & freedom promised by life under the Commonwealth, as the freedom of speech exercised by its government allowing for the rise of numerous radical ideologies, particularly in the Tinaria system. The first of these was a notable rebellion in 1747 against the Commonwealth known as the Ixmerian Revolution, which promoted a distinctively communist ideology with many elements of syndicalism that proclaimed for the population to seize means of production and found a much more powerful state based on the ideals of aerlon supremacy. Over time, the Kalagors system retained its rather moderate conservative stance while Tinaria gradually grew more left-leaning in its ideology. This growing ideological divide, combined with numerous other factors such as a large pandemic during the 1870s and a meteor impact on Etezan in 1911 contributed to the Commonwealth's decline during the later centuries of the second millennium.

Rise of the People's Fairness Party[edit | edit source]

See also: People's Fairness Party

Although the Ixmerian Revolution was a failure and would be defeated not long after it emerged, it inspired a string of left-wing political manifestos calling for the collapse of the capitalist economy that the Commonwealth practiced, along with many organizations and political parties that promoted these beliefs. One of the larger ones, and undoubtedly the most important was the People's Fairness Party (Fillorgiar: Pijael Taerne Fayrpatei; "People's Fair Party") founded in January of 1809 on the planet of Etezan. Although it initially was a rather small group, it began to rapidly gain traction after the calamities of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and by 1930 it was participating in elections for members of the Commonwealth Council, the primary legislative body of the nation. It also became particularly notorious, especially amongst the rorks of Kalagors, for its radical political views. Opponents of the PFP twice attempted to pass bills that banned the party in 1944 and again in 1971, however both were met with significant armed resistance and riots all throughout both star systems and did not pass inside of the Council. Alas though, sentiments against the party remained fairly high amongst the rorks towards the end of the 20th century.

Formation[edit | edit source]

1998 election[edit | edit source]

For the 1998 Council election, which was set to take place on March 20 as it did every four years, the PFP had nominated a well-known and rather outspoken candidate named Tessia von Merdenia for position of Speaker of the Council, which was one of the highest positions of government in the entire Commonwealth. Although Tessia was generally considered to be an able candidate by the members of her party, she had gained notoriety for being engaged in an open relationship with the leader of the party, Yelenia Imoria, making her the first openly lesbian Speaker of the Council in Commonwealth history. Although until this point the PFP had not been especially known for social rights (although they had nominated a homosexual candidate during the prior 1994 election) Tessia's distinct personality and flair charged the populace and swayed much of the Tinaria system's population in its favor. Despite this, some more socially conservative members of the PFP often mocked the pair and denounced the relationship, creating a divide within the party itself consisting of Tessia supporters and her main opponents.

Torwellia incident & split of the PFP[edit | edit source]

Tensions between the two halves reached their breaking point on September 21, 1997, when the two were denied entrance into a PFP summit held on the moon Torwellia, orbiting the Tinaria system's tenth planet Emeraude. The next day news got out that it had been Yelenia's own brother, Jalian Imoria, who had denied her and Tessia entrance into the Torwellia summit, which sparked a series of brutal political attacks from politicians in Kalagors, including from its own Speaker candidate, Hyhtar Jommelozi. To avoid further controversy, and to preserve her own safety, Yelenia stepped down from her position as the leader of the PFP and handed the position down to Tessia, who on September 25 announced Jalian's expulsion from the PFP over claims of harassment. In his own spite, Jalian formed his own political party named the Jalian Party (Fillorgiar: Fayrpatei Jalian) and announced his intent to run for Speaker of the Council himself.

Yelenia murder controversy[edit | edit source]

On February 4, 1998, a little over a month before the elections were set to take place, the members of the PFP and the entire Commonwealth population were met with a shock when it was announced that Yelenia had been murdered in an apartment while on vacation to the planet Saneya. The distributors of the news, who had aligned themselves with the Jalian Party, claimed that she had died in an accident, however her now ex-fiancé Tessia was not convinced: suspecting that Jalian himself, who over the months since the Torwellia incident had continued to make numerous comments denouncing their relationship, was to blame. Members of both parties were in disbelief as to exactly why he would murder his own younger sister, and few initially believed her until some rorks who had aligned themselves with Jalian sentenced her to life imprisonment for political fraud on February 5, but not before she made a personal speech broadcasted on live television as retaliation against Jalian's own claims. Massive riots erupted across Polytinaris as a result, calling for vengeance of Yelenia and the release of Tessia from prison. The Commonwealth military, the Unified Joint Armed Forces (UJAF) along with local police units would attempt to silence these revolts with varying degrees of success in various situations.

Mutiny of the Otovis[edit | edit source]

That same day, the crew of a Zerussus-class heavy cruiser, the Otovis, were involved in a notable mutiny relating to the riots. The ship was staffed almost entirely of aerlons and was stationed in the outer Tinarian system around the ice giant Grevoran that day. The captain of the Otovis had been instructed by UJAF High Command to fire a volley of laser fire at one of Grevoran's moons which was host to a particularly large series of protests that the local police and ground troops could not control. Being supporters of the PFP, she and the rest of the crew refused orders and instead began firing at two other ships which were accompanying her, the Lorisade-class frigate Yaetos and the Foxorius-class destroyer Ailod, both of which had significant rork crew numbers. The Yaetos was severely damaged after it sustained a direct hit on its propulsion drive and subsequently exploded with the loss of all hands while the Ailod was able to put up a significant fight, firing one of its fusion torpedoes at the Otovis and causing damage to its bow section. High Command was infuriated with the actions of the Otovis, and demanded that its captain be arrested, while the PFP and Tessia herself were impressed and inspired by its actions against the two other ships.

Inception of the Six Orders & start of the Great Revolution[edit | edit source]

The next day, a meeting amongst five high-ranking generals within the UJAF who all had strong ties with Tessia was held: attended by Hanelia Siaena, Thyosius Tigran, Quevestin Garmania, Alotanes Alpherium, and Cargania Callantia, along with the captain of the Otovis, Autarchia Halvonia. With all of them having significant military influence and strategic knowhow (and in Autarchia's case, actual battle experience) it was decided that their combined expertise could ultimately topple the entire Commonwealth and found the state that they had so desired previously. This resulted in the creation of the Six Orders, each named after one of the new generals: the Orders of Siaena, Tigran, Garmania, Alpherium, Callantia, and Halvonia were all created on that very day; as time progressed, they would eventually evolve into the six main military divisions of the soon-to-be Tessian Hegemony.

A massive recruitment effort for the Six Orders began all across the Tinaria system; by March 1 over 200,000 men and women had joined up in their combined military forces, which had been organized under the PFP and Tessia's control. In addition, the five generals managed to gain control over a total of 70 warships, including four of the then brand-new Dezirius-class battlecruisers, the most powerful ships in the UJAF's arsenal. These 1.8-kilometer long vessels were armed with hundreds of heavy laser batteries and dozens of torpedoes, along with a world razer cannon, which had the capability of completely destroying a planet's surface, rendering it uninhabitable and causing significant destruction upon its surface below (it was originally designed as a weapon to destroy asteroids) Upon learning of this, the government of the Commonwealth frantically attempted to shut down recruitment efforts for the Orders but were rendered futile at every attempt, growing weaker as time went on.

Invasion of the Tinaria system[edit | edit source]

Diagram of the Tinaria system.

Military invasions first started when the Six Orders mobilized their combined fleets on March 9, at which point they had all gathered themselves around Station-47, using it as a forward base for their attacks. Hanelia Siaena had assumed acting leadership of the Orders, which by now had a very large fleet of 104 ships assembled at the station. They split into two sections from then on: the Orders of Alpherium, Callantia, and Halvonia were instructed to secure the outer planets within the system, while the Orders of Siaena, Tigran, and Garmania headed for the inner terrestrial worlds. The UJAF had 67 ships in the outer system, which had been split between the two ice giant planets of Jainder & Grevoran, but they were all assembled together in the first major confrontation of the Revolution, the Battle of Ophamia.

The confrontation at Ophamia was a decisive victory for the revolutionaries, in particular due to their possesion of two Dezirius-class ships, the Acahaye and the Bahelmia, of which the UJAF forces in the outer system lacked. Around 30 ships were destroyed at Ophamia before the defense forces began retreating back through the system's outer ice giants between March 12 and 15; they were finally defeated in orbit of the ice giant Tess, when the commander of the UJAF forces announced his surrender to the rebels early on March 16.

With resistance around the ice giants defeated, the 55 remaining ships of the three outer system orders began pushing inwards from Hanelia, however they met a much larger defensive fleet of 73 ships in orbit around the medium-sized gas giant Emeraude, which among other things was known for its very large ring system. Although they were outnumbered, the Orders were able to triumph over the defending ships, of which many were rather small and not very heavily armed. The commander of the UJAF ships at the battle of Emeraude was a woman named Urcaida Ieya, who after the conclusion of the battle announced that her remaining 41 ships and their crews would join the rebellion and their causes on March 19, the day before the Council election was due to take place.

The Order of Siaena, Tigran, and Garmania had more modest successes in the inner system, initially struggling to advance as a result of teething troubles with one of their battlecruisers, the Dezirius Prime, which had issues with its propulsion systems. Nonetheless, on March 14 they were able to inflict heavy damages on the UJAF fleet in orbit of the terrestrial planet Svorda, allowing their fleet of 70 warships to advance further through the system; they also had another victory in orbit of the ringed habitable world Ragauno on March 17, where Hanelia instructed the orders to regroup and prepare for a final strike on the Tinaria system's two major inhabited worlds Tertan & Etezan.

Formation of the Tinaria Freedom Front[edit | edit source]

Mass panic had ensued amongst the inhabitants of Kalagors after learning of the successes of the revolutionaries, and more importantly the incompetence of the UJAF in defending the Tinaria system. This would cause significant protest to occur in the Kalagors system and on the remaining Commonwealth-controlled planets of Tinaria, who demanded an improvement in the military and downplayed several notable generals within the military. In particular, it led to a niche faction consisting of various groups of Commonwealth loyalists, along with members of the Jalian Party including Jalian himself, to form their own military organization known as the Tinaria Freedom Front (Fillorgiar: Tinara tre Forne) on March 17, with a common goal of defeating the pro-Tessian rebels and ensuring the security of the Tinaria system as a whole. However, Jalian would often make numerous claims towards overthrowing the Commonwealth and would be seen as untrustworthy by some members of the TFF; nevertheless his expertise would prove to be important in the few battles the TFF fought before its dissolution.

Election day[edit | edit source]

When election day came on March 20, many pro-Tessian officials and ballot managers felt sympathetic towards her own causes and were unhappy with her imprisonment by the Commonwealth: therefore, a meeting of various high-ranking officials voted almost unanimously to add a ballot box for Tessia on the voting documents within the Tinaria system, out of sympathy, but most importantly as the PFP had not nominated a replacement candidate due to being preoccupied with the conquest of its star system. When the Commonwealth Council learned of this, they immediately nullified any and all votes for Tessia (despite her having won in an 86% landslide) and insisted on having the voting officials who proposed the idea arrested on charges of ballot fraud. Around fifty or so individuals were arrested between March 22 and the collapse of the Commonwealth on April 14, however most were not tried, and none were imprisoned due to the current conflicts within the two star systems.

Calgoier explodes after being hit by the Minoveia's planet razer cannon
Destruction of Calgoier[edit | edit source]

On March 22, the three orders sent to the outer system arrived in orbit of Ragauno in order to plan a coordinated strike against a TFF-UJAF base located on the moon Calgoier, which orbited the system's fifth planet Etezan. High Command had assembled a fleet of 62 ships in orbit of Etezan, mostly to assist in civilian evacuation efforts. In a battleplan suggested by Autarchia Halvonia, codenamed Operation Atanak[1], would involve the fourth Dezirius-class ship possessed by the Six Orders, the Minoveia, attempting a long-range shot at the moon using its world razer cannon. The other five commanders had mixed reactions: whereas Hanelia Siaena, Quevestin Garmania, and Alotanes Alpherium initially supported it, Thyosius Tigran opposed it, stating that it was too risky and that there was a high probability that the shot would either miss or end up hitting Etezan itself. Operation Atanak was put into effect early on March 24, when Autarchia fired the cannon and made a direct hit on Calgoier; in fact, even exceeding expectations as the 1700-kilometer-wide moon was completely obliterated, killing all of its inhabitants and causing significant disarray and panic amongst the defensive fleet fleet. Large pieces of rock debris rained down onto Etezan, striking major cities and causing a total of 2.7 billion deaths. UJAF High Command declared the space around Etezan to be unsafe and ordered all ships to depart and retreat to orbit around Tertan; the combined revolutionary fleet, now having grown to 158 ships, swept through the system and pushed onwards towards Tertan.

Great Battle of Tertan[edit | edit source]

Reinforcements from the Kalagors system took roughly a week to arrive in the Tinaria system due to the distance between them; when they arrived on March 24, High Command immediately instructed them to take defensive positions in orbit of Tertan and its two largest moons. This massive fleet consisted of 187 ships, including three Dezirius-class battlecruisers, the Omotrus, Marjania, and Alphetan. The commander of the fleet, Laeno la Celbos, had anticipated it to be an even fight, given the Dezirius Prime's questionable battleworthy status and the fact that many of the ships possessed by the Six Orders had been substantially damaged by previous battles.

However, the Six Orders made an unexpected entrance on March 25 when Thyosius Tigran fired the Bahelmia's planet razer cannon at the Omotrus and Marjania, destroying the former and crippling the latter vessel, completely disabling its shields and propulsion systems. Over 3,000 personnel were killed when the Omotrus exploded, and the captain of the Marjania ordered the scuttling of his ship, activating its self-destruct mechanism, but not before around a third of its crew evacuated and were picked up by the final surviving battlecruiser, the Alphetan, along with some of the other smaller ships within the fleet. Laeno Celbos, seeing as the tables had been turned significantly, but not wanting to show weakness if he surrendered to the Orders, decided to ram the Alphetan into the portside bow of the Dezirius Prime, causing moderate damage to both ships and putting the portside cannons on the Dezirius out of action. After many more hours of fighting, he finally gave into the demands of the Orders and surrendered midday on March 26, essentially giving the revolutionaries control of the entire Tinarian star system.

Release of Tessia von Merdenia from prison[edit | edit source]

After the victory at Tertan, Hanelia Siaena made a proclamation demanding the Commonwealth release Tessia and hand her over to the Six Orders. The acting Prime Minister of the Commonweath, Solynth Mallantine, refused at first but eventually gave in after angry rioters stormed her capital building located on the moon Culo on March 27, and so she agreed over a video agreement with the leaders of the Six Orders to release Tessia into their custody, that became known as the Toht affair after the moon of the planet Saneya of which the Six Orders held it on. Overjoyed rejoicing and victory spread throughout the Tinaria system, with the leaders of the Six Orders themselves holding a banquet on April 2 with Tessia herself to celebrate the occassion. Later on, March 27[2] would become a public holiday within the Hegemony and would become known as the Day of Justice amongst its inhabitants.

Creation of the Benevolent Star Navy[edit | edit source]

Although the Six Orders themselves were rather competent at their duties, Tessia realized that the conquests of the Tinaria system could have been more well-organized and had sustained more losses that could have been partially avoided had there been more coordination. Therefore, on April 3 she created the Benevolent Star Navy (Fillorgiar: Benetias Stellenmave) under her leadership in order to better coordinate further attacks on the Commonwealth and UJAF, along with some of the remnants of the TFF, which was still active despite having been significantly reduced in size. All of the Orders would still be separate military divisions, however they would all operate under the umbrella of the Star Navy for organization, functioning in a similar manner to the UJAF High Command.

Hemgyga Plan and invasion of the Kalagors system[edit | edit source]

Diagram of the Kalagors system.

During her time in prison Tessia had developed a general distaste for the members of the rork species, in addition to the leadership of the Commonwealth itself, and had secretly conjured numerous plans for total capitulation of the Commonwealth, instead of just assuming sovereignty over the Tinaria system. All of the commanders of the Orders, who had become colloquially known as the Great Sextet, supported her views and added their own ideas and suggestions to the plans and created the Hemgyga Plan, which called for a strategically and methodically planned invasion of the Kalagors system. With all of the members of the Sextet having served in the UJAF, they learned that their most critical strongholds of defense were around the binary ice giant system of Urson-Blair, the habitable moon Lielo, and the ringed oceanic superterran Oveno, in addition to around the Commonwealth's capital moon Culo.

The combined fleet of the Benevolent Star Navy set off from the Tinaria system late on April 4, and arrived at the outer limits of Kalagors on April 10, at which point they were again ordered to divide and conquer as the remaining UJAF fleets had not been coordinated into one place within the system due to a widespread crewman's mutiny within its upper ranks. One Dezirius each would be sent to each stronghold of UJAF forces, each under the command of a pair of Orders. The Dezirius Prime itself stayed at the outer edge of the system, acting as Tessia Merdenia's mobile command center.

Cargania and Halvonia's battle of Urson-Blair[edit | edit source]

The Orders of Callantia Cargania and Autarchia Halvonia, commanding the Acahaye and a fleet of 47, were dispatched to the first stronghold on April 11, that being the binary ice giant system of Urson and Blair. No Dezirius-class ship was stationed in orbit of Urson-Blair, and there were 44 Commonwealth-aligned ships stationed around the binary planet system. Most of the ships had only skeleton crews aboard them as a result of the mutiny amongst the UJAF. The commander of the Urson-Blair fleet, a rather erratic aerlon named Aalon Gallantor, refused to submit to the combined Cargania-Halvonia force; he even threatened to thrust his ship full speed into the Acahaye and destroy it; nonetheless Callantia dismissed his claims as unreliable as the ship's shields would be impenetrable to the small light cruiser Gallantor was commanding. He and his fleet then began fighting mercilessly against Cargania-Halvonia in what became known as the Battle of the Binary Giants. The battle was known for its rather unconventional fighting tactics, as in addition to using conventional laser fire Gallantor's fleet would also throw asteroids at the opposing forces in a last-resort, desperate fighting tactic. Ultimately Gallantor would end up committing suicide as he crashed his cruiser into the moon Feorxia at the end of the battle on April 12, at which point all remaining ships of the Urson-Blair fleet turned themselves over to the opposing fleet.

Garmania and Alpherium's suppression of Lielo[edit | edit source]

Quevestin Garmania and Alotanes Alpherium both arrived in orbit of Lielo's parent planet Moleus on April 13 with their fleet of 46, which included the Dezirius-class Bahelmia. The planetary governor of the moon Lielo was a rork named Lelouch Hyrocaina. Although he was generally well-respected by the Lielan population, Hyrocaina was particularly known for his social policies, which had turned Lielo into one of the most unfriendly places for LGBTQ+ individuals in the entire Commonwealth: during the years prior, he had passed legislation that had outlawed things such as gender transition surgeries and same-sex marriages. He was a staunch opponent of Tessia & Yelenia's relationship for almost the entirety of its existence, and Tessia herself also had a negative view upon Hyrocaina: after Yelenia's death the moon became one of the largest protest sites for LGBT rights not just amongst Tessia's supporters, but also in the entire Polytinaris system.

When Garmania-Alpherium ordered him and his forces to surrender, Hyrocaina refused, citing that he was "not to subvert himself to a degenerate homosexual" In the days that followed, massive armed riots known as the Lavender Spring erupted all across Lielo while a tense confrontation played out in its orbit. Quevestin Garmania decided to put his former career as an IT engineer to use and hacked into Lielo's television broadcasting satellite network in order to display a series of clips highlighting the relationship between Tessia & Yelenia on all of Lielo's television networks in the evening of April 14. In his rage, Hyrocaina shut off the entire satellite network, but not before the videos had been viewed by over 100 million Lielans, who were now outraged at his government for allowing the hack to take place. He also declared his self-proclaimed secession from the Commonwealth as the Free Republic of Lielo, and assembled a fleet of 37 ships including the battlecruiser Ghorbane, however they would not see combat as he was killed by an unknown Lavender Spring rioter in the early hours of April 15, at which point the acting ministry of the Free Republic announced unconditional surrender.

Siaena and Tigran's annexation of Oveno[edit | edit source]

The final two orders, those led by Hanelia Siaena and Thyosius Tigran, arrived at the final stronghold around the ringed ocean world Oveno on April 16 with their fleet of 48 spearheaded by the battlecruiser Minoveia. The two commanders had opted to attempt a two-pronged strike at the planet, using its two largest moons as cover; however, Siaena-Tigran were treated to an unexpected surprise on April 17, when the governor of Oveno, Avainah Holtane, surrendered to the revolutionaries and offered her full military cooperation. While Hanelia was initially overjoyed at Holtane's decision, Thyosius was skeptical at first, until he saw the fleet of 98 ships that the Ovenan governor offered up to the cause: when all the other commanders found out about this they were shocked at her cooperation - even Tessia was surprised. When asked further, Holtane said that she had made the decision after hearing about the numerous victories that the Six Orders had claimed in their conquests of Kalagors-Tinaria: Ophamia, Emeraude, Svorda, Etezan, Tertan, Urson-Blair, and Lielo. Nevertheless, the now much larger Star Navy and its commanders were instructed by Tessia to regroup in orbit of Oveno, which they were to use as a forward base.

Final bombardment of Culo[edit | edit source]

When Tessia and the Dezirius Prime arrived in orbit of Oveno midday on April 19, the combined Star Navy-Oveno fleet of 233 ships pressed onwards towards the final remaining bastion of the Commonwealth: the habitable moon Culo, which they reached on April 20. The prime minister of the Commonwealth, Alexandros Nodecam, blatantly refused all offers of submission to the Six Orders and hastily organized the UJAF's remaining 189 ships to defensive positions in orbit of Culo's parent planet Niran, where the major confrontation known as the battle of the Green Giant took place between April 20-22. It was a decisive victory for the Six Orders, and the nail in the coffin for the UJAF: having lost much of their remaining ships as well as a large space station orbiting within Niran's ring system, totaling up to 49,000 fatalities. Nodecam ordered his remaining fleets to regroup in orbit of Niran's large outer moon Oniel, however they were overpowered substantially as their final remaining Dezirius, the Warwand, was destroyed after it crashed into the surface of Oniel. The next day on April 23, Tessia and the Great Sextet arrived in orbit of Culo itself and demanded immediate surrender of the Commonwealth. Nodecam still refused all attempts at diplomacy, and this was met with a massive conventional bombardment by the combined fleet between April 23-24, causing almost 20 billion deaths and rendering the moon completely uninhabitable by the early morning hours of April 24, as its climate was destabilized by the impact of thousands of laser shots on its surface. The final communication from Alexandros Nodecam was recorded at 07:31 CST[3], after which point he is presumed to have died in the bombardment of his home moon. A few hours later at 10:04 CST, the Commonwealth Council announced unconditional surrender to the Six Orders and the fleets controlled by Tessia von Merdenia.

Escape of the P.C.S.S. Ironia and P.C.S.S. Ursonberg[edit | edit source]

See also: Empire of Ironia-Ursonberg

UJAF High Command had supervised evacuation of Commonwealth-loyal rorks from the Tinaria system during its invasion by the Six Orders, and would later attempt evacuating the moon Lielo, however many of their civilian ships were destroyed by the Orders of Garmania and Halvonia until Tessia made an order to cease firing on unarmed civilian cruisers and starliners carrying refugees from Lielo. This would prove to be a success at Culo, where relatively few civilian casualties were recorded in space - granted, over 95% of Culo's population had been completely wiped out by its bombardment and nearly the entire Commonwealth civilian fleet had been destroyed after they had been grounded by High Command on April 3. That was, except for two ships named the P.C.S.S.[4] Ironia and the P.C.S.S. Ursonberg: two nearly identical starliners which both had been overloaded with a combined total of over 8,000 refugees commanded by the rork captains Ictelin Omozis and Ephansio Elentane. They were both close confidants of each other and had forged a long relationship after being pilots in a civilian starliner company for many years prior to the Great Revolution.

When Omozis and Elentane heard of the impending fleet heading for their home world of Culo, they immediately began an unauthorized evacuation effort aboard their two ships, exceeding their maximum capacity with around 4,000 rorks being loaded on to each ship (their normal capacity was 2,500) and escaped from the moon on April 20, only a few hours before the Six Orders-Oveno fleet arrived. The Ironia and the Ursonberg set a course for the central barycenter of Polytinaris, which was rumored to be the site of numerous different mythological wormholes that led to other star systems. The two ships took thirteen days to arrive at the wormholes, getting there on May 2: they found that the legendary gates did in fact exist, and the two captains of both ships went through the same wormhole, to avoid possibly ending up in completely different places. With the two starliners having been fitted with makeshift cloaks, they were invisible to Tessian ships' sensors and could not have been detected.

The Ironia and the Ursonberg both arrived over 27 light-years away in the Taebol star system, a binary star consisting of an F9V main sequence star and an M5.5V red dwarf orbiting each other in a very distantly separated binary system. The two ships separated with each other after conducting a brief scan of the system, which revealed it to contain a very large number of planets, including several that were habitable by Earth standards. The Ironia sent itself to Taebol-One, which Omozis would later rename as Ironia, where the Ursonberg departed for Taebol-Two, later known as Ursonberg. The two captains would begin colonizing the system on their own throughout the next ten years and would go on to found the Empire of Ironia-Ursonberg in their wake.

Tessia's victory speech and proclamation of the Hegemony[edit | edit source]

Note: This speech is translated from the Fillorgiar language, the national language of the Hegemony. Some translation errors may exist.

"My fellow people of Polytinaris, today marks a pivotal day in the history of our faithful star system.

The weak and flawed Commonwealth is no more thanks to our efforts. This system has suffered too long under the tyranny of capitalism. And do you know what this has gotten us? Nothing! Absolutely nothing! We will take control of the production! Strengthen the military! All in the name of the everlasting greatness that shall ring across all of Polytinaris with our great name. And if I am to fail, let it be known that those despicable rorks of the savage moon they call Culo, are not to be trusted in any situations!

And someday our power will reach more planets and moons than just those that lie in the two systems we have now. And whoever happens to live in those systems, may they suffer the same fate as did the Commonwealth. May they know that the new Tessian Hegemony is a foe not to be taken lightly. We will conquer those star systems and shine the light of our great progress through their great suns! All this to satisfy my own personal desires as well as those of the late Yelenia Imoria, whose life was taken so degenerately by those evil Kalagorians.

Inga lii o Hemgyga; Long live our Hegemony."
Tessia von Merdenia, April 24, 1998

Socialization of the industry and economy[edit | edit source]

Having successfully gained control over the two solar systems of Kalagors and Tinaria, the now self-proclaimed Benevolent Premier established the new capital of her empire in the city of Unculaneum, an existing city on the planet of Tertan. She chose the location for its cultural and strategic importance as the original home planet of the aerlons, despite herself having been born & lived most of her life on the neighboring planet of Etezan (a point that many opponents would use in the criticism of the regime) Unculaneum was officially proclaimed the new capital on April 25, not long after she made her victory speech. It would soon develop into one of the most developed cities within the entire Hegemony, growing to a population of over 40 million at its peak around the year 2050.

The economy and industry of the former Commonwealth would soon undergo a period of socialization lasting throughout the rest of 1998 and into early 1999, through a series of acts and decrees known as the Workers of the People Acts. By August 1, many large private corporations in the industrial & technology sectors had been merged together and nationalized under larger state-controlled umbrella companies. One of the notable outliers was the Volnerian Engineering Society (Fillorgiar: Ekenitias Volneria Societe) a Ragauno-based company which was known for constructing warship classes for the Commonwealth. After striking a deal with the leader of the VES, Candissia la Volneria, on June 10. The VES was bought in a 90% share by the government of the Hegemony and was allowed to remain partially independent provided the construction of 185 new ships, including five new Dezirius-class battlecruisers, was completed by July 1, 1999. In return the VES was given access to more production factories and significant economic help from the government, in addition to access to vast amounts of slave labor consisting of the Hegemony's political enemies.

Private business ownership was not completely outlawed by the Workers of the People Acts, and some already-existing small businesses actually benefited, however after their implementation it became much more difficult to create a business. Additionally, most smaller companies would be bought up by larger nationalized firms in a frenzy of acquisitions that lasted throughout much of 1998 and 1999.

Being herself a notable advocate for social rights, during the fall of 1998 Tessia Merdenia would pass many forms of legislation that would support social rights for various minority groups and peoples, including disabled and neurodivergent individuals, the LGBTQ+ community, minority landraces within the aerlon species, and various others. Accessible facilities for the disabled, Braille-type signs and information for blind and visually impaired, dyslexic-friendly text, same-sex marriages, gender-affirming care, and numerous other services would become law in the Hegemony, and crimes could be harsh for refusal of services or discrimination.

Discrimination and segregation of rorks[edit | edit source]

While many aerlons enjoyed their newfound freedoms and rights, the rorks would not fare as well: the new legislation would only apply to members of the aerlon species and said services were outlawed and taken away from rorks, with heavy punishment for provision of said services to rorks. Tessia held a strong dislike for members of the rork species, blaming them for numerous things including the failure of the Commonwealth and even the murder of Yelenia (although she knew that the latter was not true, she intentionally blamed the rorks for propaganda purposes) This led to the passage of the Rork Identity Act on November 7, 1998, which required the names & physical traits of all rorks be logged and publicly distributed to all organizations they were part of. Many aerlon-owned businesses fired their rork employees after the passage of the Identity Act, while the population would engage in mass boycotts of rork-owned businesses.

The next two acts to be passed were the Selection of Care Act and the Species Integrity Act, both on December 20 of that year. The Selection of Care Act permitted aerlon doctors to refuse treatments for rorks on the grounds of outrageous reasons such as "invalid experience" while the Species Integrity Act created separate facilities, schools, and public amenities for rorks, introducing large-scale species segregation practices that separated rorks from aerlons in almost every public place and situation.

Creation of the Benevolent Court and rork government purge[edit | edit source]

In addition to changes to the society and military of the Hegemony, Tessia also reformed the government of the old Commonwealth, renaming its Council to the Benevolent Court on February 12. She decided that a legislature would still be important for making legislative and judicial decisions, however she gave all diplomatic authority to herself and reserved the right to veto any proposed bills passed through the Court. In addition, she barred rorks from participating in government and carried out a systematic purge against the rorks within the ex-Council, deeming them "degenerate capitalist monsters". All of them were sent to detention camps constructed within the Polytinaris system, where they would endure appalling conditions and brutal treatment by aerlon masters. For their actions in the Revolution, she also made the Great Sextet her new cabinet, and gave the title of Leader of the Court to Hanelia Siaena.

Ovectrion Plan and conquest of the Genenia/Mezdellia system[edit | edit source]

Diagram of the Genenia (Mezdellia) system.

Although the Hegemony had entered a new period of prosperity brought about by its conquest of the Kalagors-Tinaria system, the Great Sextet and Tessia, along with much of the population, were still not satisfied with their territory and seeked to assume sovereignty over the third star of Polytinaris: the M3V-type red dwarf star Mezdellia, which orbited around 15,000 AU from the other two stars of the Polytinaris system. With the construction of the 185 ships contracted out to the Volnerian Society having been completed ahead of time on April 26, 1999, with the christening of the fifth and final Dezirius ordered to have been constructed for the Benevolent Star Navy, the Holazia.

The Great Sextet would devise a strategic battleplan known as the Ovectrion[5] Plan during May and June, as another mass conscription effort began throughout the Polytinaris system. Notably, despite the discriminatory policies implemented on them, the Hegemony still conscripted rorks up to serve in the Orders, however they had fewer rights of objection compared to aerlons. Unlike the invasions during the Great Revolution, the Ovectrion Plan was much more comprehensive and thought-out as a greater amount of time was available to the commanders of the Star Navy. Tessia at first decided to send out a vanguard fleet of 29 ships commanded by Avainah Holtane, and her own battlecruiser, the Golmia, to the Mezdellia system: they took around three weeks to arrive, setting off from Tinaria on June 19 and arriving at the system's outer limits on July 10.

What her fleet found was a complex system of ten planets, consisting of four terrestrial planets and six gas giants, including the habitable moon Kalei and the massive ringed super-Jupiter Darhe. The system's three largest planets Palemarma, Dornk, and Darhe had already been known to the Commonwealth before Holtane's fleet arrived, but four new rocky planets, a hot Neptune, and two outer ice giants were discovered when the fleet arrived at Mezdellia's outer limits.

The most notable discovery, however, was that of the gesmian species: a race of intelligent cephalopod-like beings native to the habitable moon Kalei. The gesmians had colonized the entirety of the Mezdellian (known to them as Genenia) star system and ruled themselves under a mildly conservative monarchist government. Although they were a pacifist species, intelligence gathered by the vanguard fleet indicated that the gesmians had a defense fleet consisting of well over 500 ships, however their weaponry and defenses were found to be inferior to those possessed by the Hegemony. When the vanguard fleet arrived back at Station-47 on July 30, the Great Sextet began organizing a much larger invasion fleet consisting of 321 starships, including six Dezirius-class battlecruisers, in order to prepare a full-scale invasion of the Genenia/Mezdellia system.

Early victories in the outer system[edit | edit source]

The Mezdellia/Genenia invasion fleet arrived at the outer edge of the system on August 29, 1999, the same day that Tessia announced a declaration of war on the gesmian civilization. Holtane, who had been given command of the massive fleet thanks to possessing significant knowledge of the star system, immediately headed for the large Deepstation X-29, a mining station located within the rings of the system's eighth planet, the ice giant Dek. The gesmians had arranged a fleet of 205 ships, including three of their largest battlecruisers, which gave them similar firepower to a Dezirius save for not having a planet razer cannon. The invading fleet decided to attack the station from three sides, with two battlecruisers attacking each side of X-29, however they were initially incapable of breaking through the station's shields until one of the battlecruisers, the Fillonia, fired its superlaser cannon at the station and completely destroyed it, resulting in the deaths of almost 30,000 gesmians and the immediate retreat of the defensive fleet on September 5.

Battle of the Orange Moon[edit | edit source]

The gesmians arrived at the large moon Nephem, a moon covered in methane hydrocarbon seas similar to the moon Titan, on September 8. When the Tessian fleet arrived in orbit of the moon on September 10, the very long battle of the Orange Moon ensued, with no clear winner emerging as the two fleets were locked in a stalemate. On September 17 however, one of the Dezirius captains, Vaitia la Vaicerna, attempted a maneuver where they moved their ship, the Halmonia, behind another moon orbiting Nephem's parent planet Dornk, the carbonia moon Jahalle, and fired their planet razer cannon at said moon whilst also using their ship's tractor beam to alter the direction of debris coming off the moon's surface. The maneuver proved a success when the gesmian fleet was thrown into disarray as asteroids disrupted their formation and messed up their weapons targeting systems, allowing the invasion fleet to gain more hits on the gesmian ships. Again, the gesmians retreated through to the inner system, positioning all of their defensive forces around their home moon Kalei.

Surrender of the gesmians & Sundering of Kalei[edit | edit source]

Holtane's fleet chased the gesmian ships through to the inner system, attempting a flank near the ringed rocky planet Yansh but failing on September 24; the two fleets confronted each other again on October 1 in orbit of the gesmian homeworld Kalei. The leader of the gesmians, a rather stout individual named Aichav Uonor, would send the fleet numerous requests to negotiate a peace treaty in the midst, but would be refused each time as per orders from the Great Sextet's high command structure. The gesmians prepared their largest fleet yet consisting of 468 ships which they positioned in various places around Kalei.

Despite the Tessian invasion fleet being significantly outnumbered, they were still able to achieve superiority as a result of the gesmian's inferior weaponry: despite having significantly stronger shields than Tessian ships, gesmian laser weaponry was ineffective against their defenses. Uonor would attempt one final time at diplomacy on October 2, and Holtane accepted his offer - much to the shock of the Great Sextet and Tessia von Merdenia. However, this was actually a ruse: citizens of the Hegemony were again surprised (but also delighted) when Holtane revealed in a televised speech that she had murdered Uonor inside of the peace conference room, followed by a shot of the Dezirius-class Hermia firing its planet razer at Kalei on October 4. The attack of Kalei was the largest yet body that the cannon had been used on to that date and it proved to be a rousing success for the Benevolent Star Navy, and a crushing tragedy for the gesmians: with 15.6 billion deaths and the moon being rendered uninhabitable, it became known as the Sundering of Kalei in their society. Soon after the Sundering, the gesmians announced their surrender to the Tessian Hegemony on October 5.

Annexation of Mezdellia[edit | edit source]

Soon after the gesmian civilization surrendered, the Hegemony annexed the entire Mezdellia/Genenia star system and legally renamed it to its aerlon-assigned name, per legislation passed on October 6. Numerous amendments were made to the acts which had been passed to discriminate against members of the rork species to extend to gesmians as well - however, they were often treated worse than rorks due to originating outside of the core Polytinaris territories. The planets within Mezdellia itself were not renamed out of a lack of suitable names, but also for showing a bit of spite towards the gesmians, who had their star renamed already. Massive amounts of gesmian technology would be appropriated for use by the Hegemony, with the stronger gesmian shields being fitted onto every ship within the Star Navy, and improved sublight propulsion systems were derived from their ships as well.

Most notably, tens of millions of gesmians would be driven into slave labor for the Hegemony, working inside massive factory complexes producing both civilian and military consumer goods. The gesmians themselves were inherently pacifist, many fought back against their new rulers in the form of peaceful protests and civil disobedience: this would be met with swift and brutal resistance from the Six Orders and local police forces stationed within the Mezdellia system. These protests would continue throughout the rest of 1999 and into mid-2000 before they ceased, although some gesmian rights groups remained active as late as 2003 before they were finally quelled.

Jalianite coup of 2001[edit | edit source]

Despite the clear victory of the Tessian Hegemony over the Commonwealth and all related loyalist groups, the Tinaria Freedom Front remained active underground for years after its collapse, still with Jalian at its helm. He and his supporters, known as the Jalianites, would still be promoting their radical and bigoted ideologies secretly, evading the police forces and the Six Orders to make speeches to thousands of followers in numerous different locations all over the Tinaria system. With the subjugation of the gesmians, Jalian decided to go against his ideology's idea of xenophobia and begin converting the gesmians to his ideology in addition to giving them battle training and small amounts of military ships as well. The government of the Tessian Hegemony had suspicion that Jalian was still out there, but their fears were not confirmed until he appeared at a crowd rally in July of 2001 on the planet Saneya, having gathered a group of over 15,000 people, a quarter of which were gesmians. Observation intelligence revealed that he had plans of potentially leading a coup against the government, causing significant alarm within the Great Sextet and the upper command structure of the Hegemony.

Kalei slave revolt & Battle of Kalei[edit | edit source]
A satellite flyover image of Jexelia Diamande, taken a few days before the bombardment

The rise of the Jalianites also coincided with a particularly large slave revolt that occurred on the moon Kalei during August and September of 2001, partially backed by the Jalianites and a single Dezirius that had defected to their cause, the Dyzpeldia. Around 15 million gesmian slaves, along with some rorks and aerlon sympathizers, participated in the revolt that culminated in a storming on the massive megacity known as Jexelia Diamande on September 4. The Benevolent Star Navy dispatched all 55 ships that it had stationed within Mezdellia at the time, including the Hermia, and sent them all to Kalei in order to quell the revolt. On September 5, Quevestin Garmania issued an order to the captain of the battlecruiser, Kinnah Jervin, to begin bombarding Jexelia with the rest of her fleet: the subsequent laser barrage unleashed on Jexelia caused massive damages to the hundreds of thousands of skyscrapers composing the megacity, which was made out of an artificial peninsula constructed off of one of its continents. Impacts on its structure itself caused around half of it to collapse completely as earthquakes rocked the region from immense structural failures across the entire peninsula. In all, nearly 400 million gesmians would die in the bombardment of Jexelia, and immense amounts of money was lost on its collapse; it would not be until 2010 that it was nearly fully repaired.

The police forces operated by the Orders suggested that the gesmians were simply rebelling against their new leaders until Jalian showed up captaining the Dyzpeldia on September 10, just as the Jexelia bombardment was ending. Jalian only had a fleet of 20 ships surrounding his battlecruiser - however, he had upgraded it substantially using shield technology from the legendary First Hegemony (believed to be some kind of gesmian technology by the Hegemony) and an experimental warp drive that allowed it to travel much faster than any other Tessian ships possessed at the time. The Dyzpeldia's shields withstood bombardment from the Hermia, which itself would be crippled as its propulsion drive and planet destroying superlaser were put out of action. Ultimately, Jervin decided to ram her vessel into the opposing battlecruiser itself, which completely destroyed as its energy core breached and exploded, significantly damaging the Dyzpeldia's shields but not to the point of taking them out completely. After picking up an SOS from the Hermia on September 12, the Great Sextet issued an "immediate takeout" order on Jalian's battlecruiser and its surrounding fleet.

Standoff at Etezan[edit | edit source]

With the Benevolent Star Navy on high alert after the destruction of the Hermia on September 12, Jalian made a rapid escape to the Tinaria system and arrived there early on September 13, as his small fleet gathered in orbit of the moon Unorbia, the largest moon orbiting the gas giant Impollyn. Using its very strong magnetic field to his advantage, he adjusted shield frequencies to match that of the magnetic field and made himself practically invisible to long-range sensor scans and kept a low profile whilst the Dyzpeldia repaired itself.

On September 16, Jalian's battalion made another charge as they headed directly for Tessia's home planet of Etezan, where she was spending holiday. Jalian's fleet decided to use the debris field left over from Calgoier's destruction as a decoy again confusing Tessian sensors, until he encountered the Golmia and Otovis II, which had been dispatched to aid in the search effort for Jalian. Holtane, still captaining the Golmia, immediately demanded Jalian surrender and turn himself in to the Star Navy, and subsequently engaged in ship-to-ship combat. The Dyzpeldia remained relatively unharmed until the Otovis II used its planet razing cannon on the ship, which managed to disable its shields and its propulsion drive. Both captains, along with the Great Sextet and even Tessia von Merdenia, who had used a telescope to see the battle from the surface, were shocked at how the battlecruiser had survived a shot from a superlaser, thought to be the most powerful weapon in existence.

On September 18, the Great Sextet arrived with their six Dezirius-class flagships and a flotilla of 99 ships. That same day, Tessia would travel up to the leading ship, Hanelia Siaena's Acahaye, and would again demand Jalian's surrender, although she was very impressed at his resistance and defiance and held aghast by how powerful his battlecruiser was. Ultimately Jalian refused which began a long, tense battle between the Six Orders and Jalian Imoria's rebel fleet. Both parties sustained heavy damages following the battle, however it was Jalian who would be at a loss here: being both heavily outnumbered and outgunned by Tessia Merdenia's fleet.

Exile of the Jalianites[edit | edit source]

Jalian would finally concede to a surrender on September 21: as punishment for the rebellion, Jalian was exiled from the Polytinaris star system and was forced to depart to the Hulcaron system with the Dyzpeldia along with the rest of his followers and their ships. Tessia was lenient on Jalian by giving him time to repair his ship's warp drive, and he set off from orbit of Etezan on September 22. The Jalianites arrived in the Hulcaron system on December 5, however their troubles would not yet be over as the Dyzpeldia malfunctioned and crashed into the surface of its third planet, a habitable terrestrial planet named Selina. Despite it being quite Earth-like, Selina was tidally locked due to its star being an M6V-type red dwarf; as a result, its weather events and climate conditions could often be quite extreme compared to planets within Polytinaris. Most notably it possessed two large hypercanes on its Hulcaron-facing side, which were later named as the Tempessa Borumis and the Tempessa Ossycria ("North Hurricane" and "South Hurricane" in Fillorgiar) Nevertheless, the Jalianites were eventually able to adapt and founded a tyrannical dictatorship known as the Higher Sovereignty of Jalian on December 11 of that year. The Sovereignty would have various troubles throughout its history mostly relating to its very small population, however the Jalianites were able to rebuild a fairly large fleet by the year 2050, in time for its reconquest by the Tessian Hegemony.

Invention of the Ghorghosca warp drive[edit | edit source]

One of the few positive aspects of the Jalianite coup of 2001 was the acquisition of various forms of new technology from the First Hegemony (whose existence was still not yet proven) by the Tessians, who subsequently appropriated it for use on their ships. Despite not gaining access to the seemingly indestructible shield possessed on Jalian's battlecruiser, nevertheless they were able to make use of stronger weaponry and ship hull construction materials in addition to improved communication systems. Most importantly was the acquisition of a warp drive from one of the Jalianite ships: most Tessian scientists were very impressed at its speed, which could allow for travel between the stars of Polytinaris in only a few hours at its greatest speed.

Seeing its strategic value, Tessia made an executive decree that the warp drive needed to be fitted to all ships operated by the Benevolent Star Navy, and she contracted mass production of the drive out to the Volnerian Engineering Society. The mass production project, known as the Ghorghosca Project, would finally reach fruition in May of 2003, when a production version of the drive, which had been improved and altered as the Ghorghosca drive, successfully made a near-instantaneous jump between the Kalagors and Tinaria star systems. The major difference between the old experimental drive and the Ghorghosca production version was that the latter functioned in a warp jump system, which allowed for near-instantaneous warps of entire fleets but came at the expense of only having a range of a few light-years at best. With the success of the drive, the VES began fitting Ghorghosca[6] drives into every single ship operated by the Star Navy. The task was completed in mid-June of 2004, at which point the Tessian Hegemony and its leadership would begin to set their sights on colonizing and conquering other star systems.

Interstellar era[edit | edit source]

Invasion of local space and creation of the Galavades Contingency Plan[edit | edit source]

Throughout the remainder of 2004 and into the early half of 2005, the Benevolent Star Navy and the Six Orders would push the outer reaches of their control even further than Mezdellia, as they scouted the vast region known as the Holazia Cloud, a roughly spherical Oort Cloud-like region of space stretching around one light year from the center of the Polytinaris system. Hundreds of new dwarf planets and comets were cataloged during the period, as tactical communications stations and navigational buoys were set up all throughout the Holazia Cloud to aid in communications and navigations throughout the vastness of space. The conquest of the Cloud was also somewhat of a proving ground for the technologies that had been acquired in its past battles and invasions, as gesmian-derived AI interfaces enabled the majority of the scouting to be done by robotic probes which could travel very quickly thanks to improvements in propulsion systems. Industrial and mining colonies were set up on various minor planets and comets to extract hydrogen and water from their interiors, providing fuel and sustenance for the ever-expanding fleet - by the end of 2004, the Star Navy consisted of over 600 ships, including seventeen Dezirius-class battlecruisers.

At the same time as the conquest of Holazia, the Great Sextet & Tessia were drafting various schemes and battleplans to coordinate their interstellar colonization and conquest efforts under a similar manner to the Ovectrion Plan in 1999. These plans were grouped under the general umbrella of the Galavades Contingency Plan (Fillorgiar: Kcatinceyglan Galavades) which had a list of almost 50 different star systems located within the Polytinaris Spur that were all judged to have habitability potential by the Hegemony. These stars went out to a distance of almost 40 light years from Polytinaris - most of them were singular stars but there were a few binary and triple systems as well, also including the quadruple Bahelmia system, which was located 11 light years from Polytinaris. The Contingency Plan's final drafts were approved on March 3, 2005, at which point its immediate execution was to take place as a fleet of 44 starships commanded by Vaitia la Vaicerna set off for the Dremar system, a singular K1V-type orange dwarf located 4.7 light years from Polytinaris.
